save diagram in vector format (svg)
« on: February 15, 2008, 11:51:01 pm »
hej,
i would like to see an export of a diagram into some vectorbased format like svg => in case of big diagrams this would make zooming in and out much more meaningful, as currently exported diagrams (png, jpg) are not that nice
greetingz from vienna.

Greetings from Canada, Gerold.

I know this has been discussed before here in the forum. I do not know if anyone has made a formal feature request to Sparx though.

Perhaps you'd like to do so. We have a best practice we use for this. Paste the title and URL of this forum thread into your request. This lets Sparx know where to look, so they can monitor support for your idea and participate in the discussion. Also, please post back to this thread if and when you hear from Sparx, so that the rest of the community knows what is going on.

You can find the correct page by clicking the Feature Request link below the Support link at the bottom of any forum page. If you are a registered user, you can also find a link on the Registered Users page. It is almost at the bottom, below the chart; you will see it when you look there.

You may save diagrams (Ctrl+T) in emf or wmf. Zooming is working well.

Sorry Gerold, I should have mentioned that.

Perhaps metafiles will get you by for now. But I like the SVG thing in the long run. It is much newer than the metafile format, and does not suffer from the scripting problems they can pose - at least not as often.

Remember that you can set the default format for passing graphics through the clipboard. Just go to the Tools | Options dialog and look at the top right.

hej,
yes - i know the emf format - works fine if you stay in a windows world - but (un)fortunately we here have also macs and linux guys, who are not capable of consuming EA diagrams due to the fact that the emf/wmf is restricted to the windows world
greetings.
