Which version to buy ?
« on: November 01, 2009, 12:18:59 am »
Hello guys,

I am working with Enterprise Architect (Professional Edition) still 3 years. Pretty good software tool.

On my new project, one task is to teach my client's software engineers, what is UML,  and how to work with. I held my lessons of UML, by using Enterprise Architect.

People was very satisfied with and they want to work with EA, i.e. they want to buy it.

Well, the Project team will consist of 9 people, who will work on their part of Project.

my question is: which edition of Enterprise Architect to suggest them to buy, in order to allow 9 people to work together on 1 project ?

with best regards ,
Zoran

Hi Zoran,

Have a look here
http://www.sparxsystems.com/solutions/sme.html

or at the other links in the resources->solution section.

Hi Günther,

Thank you for your answer. Still not so clear which one version to buy : Professional or Corporate.

I think that Corporate will suit better.

on the page you sent, appears that professional version has more features than Corporate ?

Though, I expect that Corporate version includes all features of Professional version + some extra featues ?

Regards,
Zoran

It does not matter which version you purchase, if the update and upgrade support is not there.  I purchased the Ultimate version, but the DoDAF update to version 2.0 still has not been implemented after many months.  EA has been very good about updating, but recently Sparx has failed to come through on critical issues--EA does not allow the user to select UML 2 compliance as an option.  The result is that loosey-goosey EA models can be created that are no better than M$ Visio.

I read this as Corporate version includes all the features listed in Professional below.
As far we have Corporate version in our company I can confirm this.

@bonzo:
OK, buy e.g. s.th. like IBMs Rhapsody for about 10 times the price for a basic license, about 8000 bucks p.a. for a support & maintenance contract and all extras paid extra. Gosh man, what you're expecting at this price level??
