DOORs interface
« on: January 16, 2010, 12:05:12 am »
Hello,
I am working in for a automotive supplier company in germany. Here Telelogic DOORs is the de facto standard for requirements management.

So, we are using both EA and DOORs.

Unfortuanitly the DOORs link available jet is just a unidirectional solution. We urgently need a bidirectional interface between DOORs and EA.

Is there any plan on the roadmap to implement this kind of advanced interface?

Best regards,
Olaf

Unfortunately there is none as there is no sync mechanism back and forth. If you change or move a requirement which has been imported by DOORS it will be overwritten by the next import.

I am not an expert, but isn´t there a unique ID for every element in EA that is kept when moving or editing elements?

If so, it should be possible to handle this.

In generally I think of having a formal module in doors that contains (parts of) the EA model. It could go in these steps:

1. Mark/Filter the parts of the EA model you want to see in DOORs.
2. Export this content.
3. Import in DOORs (dxl script) as a formal module.
4. Inside DOORs: Create the needed links to other DOORs modules.
5. Export the linked information
6. Import to EA.

Thank you,
Olaf
