Import/export XML files to geodatabases in ArcCatalog

I have a question regarding importing/exporting geodatabases out/from EA. I’m using EA Ultimate and I have an XML that I exported out of ArcCatalog, roughly about 3.2MB in size. However, when I loaded the XML in EA and re-exported it without even editing anything, the file size is reduced to 321KB. When I try to import it into ArcCatalog, it failed. Any insights on this?

Which dialog are you using to export/import?

Publish > ArcGIS > Export ArcGIS Workspace XML

That can't do round tripping.
If your purpose is just to copy (export) to other models, you should be using XMI export dialog.
Publish | Model Exchange | Export XMI

It seems like there may be some portion of the file that EA doesn't know how to interpret. Difficult to tell what without access to the source file. Any chance you would be able to send in the source so our team could investigate it?
