Displaying A Banner When Accessing A Model
« on: April 17, 2018, 05:16:33 pm »
Im working in a company that uses EA.  We have a shared modelling environment with a lot of people with different levels of experience using it.

We would like to have some banner or notice displayed when people access the model to advise them not to store specific types of information in it.

Has anyone done this – or got an idea of how it could be done.

I did consider using the default diagram but I cant stop people from changing this using the EA permissions.

Anyone got any good ideas please ?

You may find yourself in the same situation even with some other approach.

I concur with VKN. The only thing that *really* helps is a good training. You're not save of trolls anywhere, though. And if you try the paranoid way your motivated modelers will get demotivated soon.

If you use shortcut .EAP files, I believe you can specify which diagram to open in the shortcut. Of course, that only applies to people using the shortcut, but if that's what they do then that should work.

My theories are always correct, just apply them to the right reality.

Thanks for the suggestions - and I do agree with the sentiments around this approach

Lock the diagram with user lock, so they will not be able to modify it.
