v15.2 - Is "Alias" used in MDG Generation?

I note that in the special attributes page that describes the attributes that can specify «stereotype» generation, there is no mention of the "Alias" property of the item.

If I set it, it DOES appear in the generated output.  However, there is no indication that it does anything other than appear.  Is it safe to "hijack"?
