Service Now Equivalent to JIRA Filter
« on: April 08, 2021, 12:41:18 am »
Hi All

I am not a Service Now user, but I have an EA client who is.

I have managed successfully to Integrate PCS with JIRA and notice that in JIRA you have to have at least one filter so that the items in JIRA are listed in the System Integration window in EA

Now, with the client we have successfully integrated PCS with ServiceNow however although we can see the Service Now project in the System Integration window we cannot expand further in the breadcrumb and hence no Service Now items are listed. I suspect that we are missing something similar to a JIRA filter, but what is the equivalent in Service Now?

The client tried to create a custom search (I believe that is what its called) but no effect, so how do you get the Service Now items listed in the EA System Integration Window?

All help greatly appreciated

Phil

I don't have an answer but would be interested to know if you find one. We've just started a project to implement ServiceNow into the organisation so likely to want to do a similar thing in the future.
Happy to help

Hi

From what I have been told you have to set up Table Filters in Service Now, these Table Filters behave similar to JIRA filters

Yet to be confirmed

Hi Phil

In the case of ServiceNow Integration, it won't work with filters/queries, Instead, it will fetch Service Now Items like CI, Knowledge Base etc. Please refer to the below image for the list of supported items that are fetched.

Hi Arshad,

Can new objects be created in SPARX EA and pushed into ServiceNow?

And will ServiceNow have the same tags and properties that are used in SPARX EA or will it just be an object name?

Thanks,
Rupert

Can new objects be created in SPARX EA and pushed into ServiceNow?

At the moment ,creating in EA and pushing the complete information into SN is not possible ,but Updating an existing element in SN which is linked with EA objects is possible ( Means We need to connect the SN integration and using integration need to create SN items in EA , Once created ,configured properties can be updated in EA and can be pushed into SN .  ) .

And will ServiceNow have the same tags and properties that are used in SPARX EA or will it just be an object name?

Yes, when the SN item is linked with EA , all the properties can be configured as tags, which updating the SN items from EA, only the configured properties will be updated.
