Where is ALT-Z gone
« on: April 16, 2021, 10:51:24 pm »
I used this for ever to resize element. Now in 15.2 it's gone (thank you). Where in the option jungle can I find back the setting so I can restore it?

While I'm whailing: when, when, when will this option disaster come to an end. With each EA version options get moved to another position. And it's never the right one. There is seemingly no concept behind this. Why do I keep paying for this? Ah, forget it. I just go out and bang my head against a concrete wall several times. That's likely more pleasant.

I don't ask why, but it works that way. Thanks! (I will have to get used to it.)

Just FYI,

This is because 'Z' is a shortcut of the Specialize ribbon, so the first Alt+Z opens the ribbon.
In the Specialize ribbon, there is no item which shortcut key is 'Z', so the second Alt+Z is ignored by the ribbon, and EA itself accepts the shortcut and finally calls the feature as expected.

There is no workaround, so this is just information.

Somehow I knew it is because of the ribbons (being no friend of that concept, but that's another story). Thanks for the clarification!

  • Alt-Z + Alt-Z doesn't work if the Minimize the Ribbon option is set.
  • The context menu for selected elements doesn't include the menu item Autosize (Alt-Z) if only one item is selected.
  • It usually sets the element width too small anyway.

Some other functionality also doesn't work if the Ribbon is minimized...  I've noted it previously.

I never liked ribbons since this function flooding is just not helpful in any way. I know I'm fighting windmills....
