Archimate Path and Communication Network elements

Can anyone explain how the Archimate Path and Communication Network elements Connector option in the Toolbox works. I can't get it to do anything.

You use it as a relationship/connector between two Nodes or other structural concepts

It's useful for describing situations like firewall rules.  You have your source system (node), your destination system (node), you connect them with a path connector which you label with the port and/or protocol.
