Prolaborate - closing a discussion
« on: July 09, 2021, 07:13:06 pm »
As the admin of a Prolaborate Repository, I'd like to close a processed discussion, yet this is currently reserved to the author.
I suppose that it would require an update in Prolaborate so we can enable other users (e.g. a new permission in the Feature Set) to close any discussion.

Hi Guillaume,

It would be better to close a discussion by an author who created and if the admin closes it, it will be more confusing rather than convinience.

What is the issue you are facing currently?

Hi guys,

Guillaume is right, we need others to be able to close the discussion.  As you're aware, discussions (even on this board - "shock horror"  ;D) can get quite heated and sometimes management (of various forms) may need to "step in" and shut things down.   I'm sure you could create a UI to distinguish between a natural close (by the author) and a forced close (by someone else).

Or in case the original author is no longer actively using the tool.

That might be the most common use case.

In this instance I have business users creating discussions to provide feedback. Once I have carried the updates in EA, I need to set this discussion as closed since the author is not a regular user (I like Paolo suggestion of a force close).
As I show all open discussions on the main Dashboard within a widget, it is important to close those that are considered as dealt with. I don't want to ask each author to go back to Prolaborate only to close a discussion.
There could be a case also where someone reopens a discussion to add a note under an existing thread.
