Trouble Getting AddIn Loaded
« on: October 03, 2003, 08:28:28 am »
I seem to be having trouble with getting my add-in loaded.  Is there a log that gets generated that might tell me where it is going wrong?

I noticed after I installed, there was a pre-existing add-in parent key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sparx Systems\AddIns.

The help specifies to put the user add-in key under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sparx Systems\EAAddIns.

I've tried adding my key to both locations.  My add-in isn't even getting CoCreate'd which leads me to believe that the key isn't being recognized or read correctly.  And ideas?

G'day,

Paste the following into a text file and import it into regedit for a sample:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sparx Systems\EAAddins\Acme AddIn]
@="AcmeReporting.StandardClass"

Let me know if there are still probs.

If a detected add-in fails to load EA will let you know.

Yep, that did it.  I was at the wrong level.  I expected it to go under the EA360 key.

Dear EA Administrator(s),

Like my predecessor I was at the wrong level, too.
I expected it under the EA360 key, wondering that nothing happens.

Two things I would suggest:

1) Please change the text in the help file, under "Deploying Add-Ins", so that no further misunderstandings can occur.

2) Maybe you could provide one or more AddIn samples in the future

Best regards,

I am still having problem with com.  Maybe someone can help me.

It appears (somehow) that EA can not create the object even though it found the object.  Something must be buggered up in my registry.  Anyone know how to fix this problem or if their are any tools to help fix it.

Also, can EA get postinformation on the new 4.0 Plugin structure, I hear it is different (hopefully less reliant on COM).  And get us a release eta.

For anyone who is interest, I have SharpDevelop integated as a "AddIn", let me know if you would like a copy.  I'll post a copy.
