Hi

Quick questions:
  • Have you upgraded PCS from 4.x to 5.x or is it a new install?
  • If you have upgraded, did it work before the upgrade?
  • Which version of EA are you using?
  • Do you know which database type it connects to?
  • How do you connect to the database from PCS? Native or via ODBC?
  • Can you connect to the database from the PCS setup?
  • Can you connect to the database directly from EA?
  • Have your network changed, e.g. new IP address for the database and/or PCS Server

Will help when trying to chase down your problem.

Sorry for the late reply @wivel,
1. Yes, we upgraded from PCS from version 4.2 to 5.0.104
2. It worked without any issues before the upgrade.
3. EA 16.0.1604 64-Bit.
4. This connects with the MSSQL Database.
5. This occurs when connecting the DB with the Cloud Connection.
6. Yes.
7. Yes, Server connection is successful without any issue.
8. No, Nothing Much.

Hi Stark

Really strange. Since you can connect to the DB from both eA and PCS, it must be something in the connection between EA and the PCS server. Are you sure nothing has changed in the naming, model numbers, server addresses and the like?

Another question. did you upgrade to PCS 5.x 64 bit version? In that case, you have to follow the migration steps described here: https://sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/16.0/the_model_repository/pcs-64bit-migration.html

Thanks Henrik. Yes, I have upgraded from PCS 5.x 32-Bit version to 64-Bit. And thanks for the 'Migration steps' info, No one was aware of this. After creating a new connection I was able to connect without any issues. Thanks for the reply ;D :P

Hi Stark

Glad you got it to work. I sort of stumbled onto the migration steps by accident myself. There is a link to it from the PCS download page in the 'Installing and Registering Pro Cloud Server v5' section.
