EALite for qea files?
« on: October 21, 2022, 11:38:17 pm »
Just downloaded EALite and was not able to view an EA model created by EA16 in a .qea-file.
Does someone know, whether I downloaded the wrong EALite?
Or what is the plan about EALite at Sparx Systems?

Related topic: is someone aware of a transfer from an EA16 generated qea file to an eapx file?

EALite is discontinued, isn't it? They want people to pay for their web-stuff.

That's my impression (or what I remembered from the recent past). Maybe someone else could confirm - or say the opposite...

Hi

EALite is still available for download, but have not been updated since EA 14.1. Seems to me it is still there for those who are still on older EA versions. Otherwise, qwerty is right. Sparx is pushing PCS and WebEA as the read-only option for EA.

Yes, although WebEA seems to require a full EA licence to operate !

It requires a PCS license, it doesn't require an EA license.

Here's a direct quotation from the main Sparx website....
"WebEA is a complementary product and is not intended to replace Enterprise Architect. WebEA allows your entire organization to read and consume models, and provide feedback where appropriate.

A valid licence of Enterprise Architect is still required to create models and edit diagrams."

I assume then that the last sentence refers to the full EA product and is intended to show that WebEA is purely read-only?

One question - if PCS is licensed at the Team Server or Enterprise Server level, this means you can have unlimited WebEA users?

There are lots of features of EA that aren't available in WebEA. You need EA licenses for all the people doing all the actual modeling.

Yes, Team Server and Enterprise both provide unlimited WebEA users.
