Full installation file list
« on: November 03, 2022, 03:29:21 am »
Hi all,

I am working with my IT department to get EA v16 Ultimate installed on our system. Is there an official list of the .msi files etc that must be installed to get the full Ultimate edition and what versions those files should be?

We have a bunch of files from our 15.2 install, but I don't know which are current, which need to be replaced by newly downloaded versions, and which have been integrated into the core application so the addon is no longer needed.

Thanks for your help

Roche

Hi

You do not have to worry about any files in the EA installation folder. If you install EA v 16 64-bit it will install, by default, into C;\Program Files, leaving the EA v 15.x installation intact. Therefore, you can run EA v 15.x and EA v16 64-bit side by side on the same machine.

If you install EA v 16 32-bit it will install, by default, to C:\Program Files (x86), thereby overwriting the existing EA v 15.x installation.

Thanks Phil, but I am not worried about things being installed at the same time, I am trying to work out what files need to be installed to create a full install of v16 Ultimate Edition. My reference to the installer files we have from our 15.2 installation is just that some of these addons carry over to v16 so I don't need to look for newer versions on the Sparx website.

The initial attempt at packaging v16 for pushing out to users doesn't seem to have all of the functionality from the addons that our v15.2 package has, so am working out exactly what installer files need to be used.

Why not let the installer do its thing?

All of the files in the 15.2 installer should be replaced with all of the files from the 16.0 installer.

If you're interested in add-ins as well, then check for more recent versions of any add-ins you're using.

We are not installing over the top of the previous install - our system is virtualised, so applications get packaged and then pushed to people who are on the distribution list for them - to get v16 onto the system we have to make a standalone new fresh installation as a package.

With previous versions we have had to install the base application and then install some MDGs that come as separate .msi files to end up with the full functionality of the Ultimate version - is this not the case anymore? is a single installer meant to give us everything? In this case it hasn't - what have we done wrong?

If we do have to include the additional files for the addons that comprise the Ultimate version, is there a list so we can make sure we get everything?

And how about the addtional features like the support for MS Visio importer?
