I just tried packages and it worked as you described. What I did first was (what I thought) the easier variant: copy elements in a diagram and paste them. This does NOT work. I know that EA is the opposite of orthogonality. I get a proof of that every day.

The package is the Egg. The Elements are just fragments of the shell ;-)
