Create user locks for another user
« on: March 28, 2024, 02:24:58 am »
Hi,

I have a shared EA project with the Security enabled. Admins have the lock elements permissions and they use group locks to manage the write access to specific branches of the model.
Users don't have the lock element permission, however model branches need to be locked for specific users. This would be expected to be done by the admin, yet it's not possible to create user locks for a different user.
Does it require a feature request ? Is there a workaround ?
Note: authentication is done with the Active Directory.

There's definitely a workaround: write a script that adds the required lock records to the database.

Other then that I guess it's a feature request.

A workaround may be to create smaller groups to have more control?
There is no restriction to the group sizes, a group could even contain only a single user.
