How to remove imported MDG technologies?
« on: October 02, 2014, 03:28:22 pm »
How do I remove an item from the list of selectable MDG technologies in SETTINGS | MDG TECHNOLOGIES? I can't seem to find a way ... I removed the files from which I initially imported an MDG technology, can't find a direct EA command, can't find anything in the registry, etc.

The problem is that I have imported multiple versions of my custom MDG in the process of developing it, now I have a bunch of garbage in the list, and can't control what gets enabled/activated.

Hi Jeff,

Open Windows Explorer and go to %APPDATA%\Sparx Systems\EA\MDGTechnologies.
(%APPDATA% typically being C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\)

You should find your imported technology files in this directory.  Simply delete the unwanted files from this directory and restart EA.

Can't you do it through the user interface? There is a Remove button on the MDG Technologies dialog.
Best Regards, Roy

Depends if the technology was imported for the Model, or for the User.  If imported into the Model, you should be able to use the Remove button in the MDG Technologies dialog as Roy suggested.  If it was imported for the User (i.e. into APPDATA), then you need to browse to the directory and manually delete the file.

I tried to remove some MDG technologies by removing the files from the APPDATA-folder, but when restarting Sparx EA, the files automagically reappeared again. In the window MDG Technologies, I de-selected the Enabled check box for the MDG technologies I want to get rid of, but to no avail. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Go to the Browser window, Resources tab. Open up the 'MDG Technologies' branch. Under 'Model Technologies' you can right-click a technology name and 'Remove Technology'. Under 'User Technologies' you can right-click a technology name, 'Locate Technology' and remove it from the location shown.
