Importing/Synchronizing Code
« on: February 21, 2005, 08:24:48 pm »
Hi,

This might be a stupid question, but are there import templates for code as well as export templates?

The code generation templates are great, but can you do the same thing with synchronisation and importing?

The reason I ask is because there is a desire within the organisation I work in to keep the code for operations within EA.  If you use the code templates you can use the existing fields to hold the code and spit it out again during the generation process but I can't see a way of pulling it back in.

Anyone able to offer any information on this?

Cheers
Shaun

Hi Shaun,

So far we haven't exposed any interface to allow users to modify the way code is imported.

Thanks Simon,

Is there any intention of doing so in the future?

Cheers,

Yes, we are intending to provide a way of customizing the import process.  It is substantially more involved than writing (or editing) templates though.  Before we can expose anything we will need to provide quite substantial documentation of the process.  (Or, you could say that is exposing it.)  That will take time.

FWIW, I'm looking forward to this feature as well.  We'd like to be able to use EA to synchronize our ColdFusion component model.
