Hi Luca,

DoDAF is a bit problematic as many of DoDAF's artifacts do not map to UML at all. About half of DoDAF's work products are basically textual documents. Having said that, I have used EA on a project based on DoDAF, it worked fine with the exception of the fact that some of the artifacts had to be kept outside of EA.
FEAF, I have used it with Rational Rose and do not see why it could not be used with EA (in fact I may have to do so in a very near future).

Hi Bruno and thx,
I downloaded the 250 pages pdf doc about DoDAF on USA Army site .. and also find out something about FEAF on Rational documentation.

I also got the matrix map of Zachman framework.

Starting from this matrix I'm trying to figure out which cells have to been used for the documentation and the organization of my project.

Basically what I was asked to do is introduce UML standard and modelling and rendering methodologies to describe a very complex environment as for enterprise (Business) - System (Logical) and Technology (physical) point of view.

We bought EA and now I'm trying to map the best methodology - framework (Zachman - FEAF - DoDAF) which fit with my needs. At last, but not least, I'm also trying to find out the best approach to start having results (aka documentation) with the less effort

Regards
Luca Romoli

Hi Luca,

as I will likely need to use EA with FEAF soon, I am now working on setting up EA structure to fit FEAF, I would be happy to share it and maybe we can come up with something together.

Hey Guys, FYI

Sparx is
a) working on a MoDAF implementation (This is the UK equivalent to DoDAF). We will publish the profile soon.

b) working on a DoDAF solution, addressing some of the non-UML artifact aspects - This will be available as an addin over (hopefully) the next few months.

Hi Bruno,

Did you work with FEAF purely through the organisational structure of your EA Project, or was something else required?

Thanks.

Cheers Graeme

Has there been any progress in developing the MODAF profile. I have noted that Sparxsystems are part of the group that have submitted a proposal to the OMG?

Hi EA folks - any progress on DoDAF/MoDAF, etc.?

Yes, lots. Sparx are part of the UPDM Submission Team working to create a UML Profile for DoDAF/MoDAF. I think the deadline to get the document to the OMG is December, and any Sparx product won't be available until after that.

Just curious if you could post another dodaf update.  I could really use a dodaf plugin.

Thanks...
Greg...
