Can't use floating key from EA using CrossOver
« on: February 10, 2008, 03:52:33 pm »
Hello All,

I did a brief search on the forum and web and could not find any information on my issue. I am trying to use EA 7 through Wine. I have successfully installed all the components along with EA, but when it comes time to enter a license I have not be very successful.

I am using a floating license located on another machine. The first problem I have is that I can not enter the traditional "\\<machine-name>\<share-name>" path into the file browse dialog when choosing my keyfile. I tried mounting the keystore 's shared directory using samba and then accessing the key that way. I was able to see the key file under the file dialog, but just to get the error:

"Error reading Key Store File (Key file has been moved)"

...help?  ???

Unfortunately it is a known problem that floating licenses do not work under Linux/Crossover at this time.  There is a limitation in the WINE API that interferes with how the floating license system detects if a file has been moved from it's original location.  We are yet to find a workaround for this problem.

If you wish to exchange your floating licenses for another license type, please contact [email protected].
