No Connect Button On MDG Eclipse
« on: April 10, 2006, 07:40:12 pm »
Good afternoon all,
I've downloaded the trial version of MDG Eclipse to evaluate for our company. Unfortunately when I attempt to link EA (registered V5) to an Eclipse project, there is no 'Connect' button. Eclipse gets started, but there is only 'close' and 'help' buttons on the Eclipse Connections dialog box.
Has anyone seen this behaviour before? Have I not done something obviouse? Appologies if this has been answered elsewhere, I've searched the forum and could not find it covered elsewhere.
Thanks in advance.
Vagabond.

Hey Vagabond,

Take a look at this thread:
http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Automation;action=display;num=1138672679;start=1#1
Can't say for sure since I don't use this particular tool, but it sounds like the same thing.

Please remember to report back on whether it works.

David
No, you can't have it!

Hi David,
Yes they look related. I've followed the advice as stated. Which is
"Make sure you are opening "Connect External Project | Eclipse" under the Add-Ins menu and not "Eclipse | View Project Connections".  The dialog that displays for the latter option appears virtually the same, but without the Connect button. "
My problem is that there is no such "Connect External Project" option under the Add-ins context menu. All I have is options (in which you can tell EA where eclipse is installed) and "View Project Connections". I must be missing some setting.
Cheers,
Vagabond.

Found IT !

After you go into view it opens eclipse.
Once you've opened the workspace, switch back to EA and tell it to refresh the project. The connect option will then appear in the Add-ins context menu. Otherwise it never appears.
Thank you David for the help.

Cheers
Vagabond.

That makes my day Vagabond!

Now that I read your "found it" post I dimly remember seeing something here about having to come back into EA...

This forum really does have a wealth of good stuff. It is usually worthwhile to do a search or two when you're stuck. Having said that, the search function is well known for its tendency to be 'selective' about what it reveals. Just because you cannot find something doesn't mean that its not there, nor does it necessarily mean you failed to search well; sometimes the search engine simply won't tell you.

We're always here to help (or at least listen  ;) ).
