Selecting a different view

The View Tab Switcher lists the currently open views in Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect.

The View Tab Switcher lists the currently open views, in order of most recently activated to least recently activated; the selection cursor is on the name of the view that was activated just before the currently active one.

Details of the selected view are displayed on the right hand side of the screen, and include:

  • A preview thumbnail of the view, and
  • A description of the view and its contents

Continue holding the Ctrl key to keep the window open; to move the selection cursor:

  • Down the list of views, press the Tab key
  • Up the list, press the Shift+Tab keys

Alternatively, use the arrow keys.

Activating a view

To activate a view in the Diagram View, either release the Ctrl key or press the Enter key; alternatively, click on the required view.

Activating a view moves it to the top of the 'Active Views' list, whereas closing a view removes it from the list completely.

Notes

  • One of the strengths of Enterprise Architect is that you can work in one of the central views (the 'active' view) and instantly display and edit aspects of your model in one or more of the windows surrounding the view; having completed your review in a window, however, you can quickly switch focus back to the object you were working on in the active view by pressing Ctrl+Shift+`  (effectively Ctrl+~)
