Option

Action

See also

Name

Defaults to the name of the parent Package, as the name of the diagram.

If necessary, overtype the field with a different diagram name. You can change the diagram name in this field whenever necessary.

Author

Defaults to the name of the person who created the diagram.

If necessary, overtype the field with a different author name, or click on the drop-down arrow and select a name from the list. You might do this if the diagram becomes the responsibility of another person.

View

Shows the specialization or viewpoint of the diagram within its type, initially set when you create the diagram through the 'New Diagram' dialog. For example, each of the UML Behavioral diagrams can be a Simple (Default) diagram or a more complex Behavioral (Complete) diagram; each UML Structural diagram could be a Simple diagram or a more complex Structural (Complete) diagram, whilst a Class diagram can additionally be a Domain Modeling, Hierarchy or Metamodel diagram. The View determines what elements and connectors are provided through the Diagram Toolbox, the Simple diagram types having the most basic set of toolbox items.

You can change the View within the diagram type; click on the drop-down arrow and select the preferred View.

Version

Displays the version number (or other version reference) that has been manually set for the diagram. If this is a cloned diagram, the version number will have been defined as part of the cloning process. If no number has been set, the field defaults to 1.0.

To update the version number, overtype the field.

Filter to Version

Select this checkbox to filter the elements on the diagram and mute those that do not have the same version number as the diagram. This is of particular value when you are working on the elements of a cloned diagram and want to distinguish between elements that have been cloned to match the diagram and Package structure, and elements that are still the same version as the source.

You can use the facility to check more generally which elements are not of the same version as the diagram, such as when you drag elements from the Browser window as links to local or, more especially, external elements.

The filter takes effect when you click on the OK button.

Traceability

Set new elements to Version

Select this checkbox to set the version of every new element added to the diagram to the same version as the diagram. Elements dragged and dropped from the Diagram Toolbox or added using the 'New Element' dialog will have the same version as the diagram. The version value of elements dragged and dropped from the Browser window will not be updated.

Stereotype

(Optional) Type in the name of a diagram stereotype to apply, or click on the drop-down arrow and select a stereotype from the list.

You can define stereotypes to select here using the 'Settings > Reference Data > UML Types' ribbon option, selecting the 'Stereotypes' page and creating stereotypes with a 'Base Class' of 'Diagram'.

Custom Stereotypes

Created

Automatically displays the date on which the diagram was created.

If necessary, overtype the field with an amended creation data, or click on the drop-down arrow and select the date.

Modified

Automatically displays the date and time when the diagram was last modified.

GUID

Read-only field, displaying the GUID of the selected diagram.
