Insert Project Features

You can quickly insert a new project item directly into a diagram, using in-place editing.

Assign project details directly to an element from a diagram

Step

Action

Open the diagram containing the element.

Click on the element name.

The name is highlighted in a lighter shade (the default is white), to indicate that it has been selected.

Either press Ctrl+F11 or right-click on the highlighted name and select the 'Add Other' option.

The 'Insert Feature' dialog displays.

Click on the appropriate radio button to associate the required project feature with the element item.

Click on the OK button.

The '<Project Feature> details for <element>' dialog displays for a Decision or Event item.

The '<Project Feature>' dialog displays for a Risk, Metric or Effort item.

For Decision and Event items:

  • Complete the fields to define the project activity, and then click on the Apply button
  • If creating a subsequent project activity of this type, click on the New button

When you have defined all of the project activities of this type, click on the OK button.

The project details are added to the element.

Notes

  • To ensure that the project items are visible in the diagram element, as shown in step 7, select the 'Project' checkbox on the 'Elements' tab of the 'Properties' dialog for the diagram
