Is there a bug using PORT ALIASes
« on: November 04, 2013, 10:19:11 pm »
I have some components with ports and have been experimenting with different document options, so I decided to apply a unique alias to each port using the properties window.

Now some of my ports labels are displayed with name / alias in the project browser and in my diagrams. If I open the properties dialogue for the port, the alias name appears in a box labelled 'Role' but in the properties window, its an alias. Surely Role isn't the same as Alias??

Also, and more worrying, there are situations where the / alias seems to disappear and come back again later, but I haven't yet worked out what I do to repeat it consistently. More on that later.

I guess that's correct. A Sparxian commented on this some time ago here on the board.

There's a checkbox at Tools | Options | Diagram | Behavior . It's called 'Use alias field for role'.

Thanks for that Simon. Did you know when its on, that the Alias "leaks" into the project browser too with some unusual effects?

e.g with numbering on a PORT does this
1.2.1 Attribute / A123
becomes
Attribute

only to revert later

Will report as a bug
