Installed v11 and can't connect to SQL Server
« on: August 13, 2014, 07:39:58 am »
I don't get any error messages. The screen flickers and then nothing.

Tried using the old connection strings, both using
the native client 10 and OLEDB providers, which both still work fine in v10.

Also tried putting tcp: in front of the server name.

Any ideas?

Sounds like you need a break/sleep and a fresh start ;)

Since this is the first post in that direction either the first assumption applies or your machine has some very strange circumstances. I'd try a fresh install. Also look into %appdata%\\Sparx Systems\EA\DBError.txt

May sound like that, but I've tried various things over the last 3 weeks to no avail, that's why I've gone back to v10.

No such file exists on my PC.

Even attempting to connect to a local SQL Server fails - and profiling the database doesn't even register a connection being made.

It is quite a locked down environment, but I'm still quite OK to install and run v10.

Any other (non flippant) suggestions?

3 weeks?  Have you contacted Sparx Support for assistance? They should be able to get you up and running in far less than 3 weeks.
