Diagram prints with many blank pages
« on: November 08, 2010, 11:16:36 am »
I have a 2 page (A3 portrait) diagram that looks like this

When I print preview it, or print it, it prints with many (50+) blank pages.
It does this to all the printers I have access to.

Has anyone else had this issue, and if so were you able to suppress the blank pages?

Well, after further detailed inspections ...

I used the mouse scroll wheel to scroll to the lowest zoom EA appeared to go. (as shown in the post before)

I assumed that, therefore, all entities were showing.
They weren't.
I believe this to be an EA bug.
(Actually a feature request comes to mind here - zoom diagram to fit screen (cf scale to 1 page for print)).
The bug is that EA should allow the zoom to continue out until all entities are shown.

I do note that looking again at the image in the post before shows scroll bars, indicating there were entitles elsewhere on the diagram.

A second feature request is that the Advanced print options should include a "don't print blank pages" option.

I wouldn't consider it a bug: I don't think it's unreasonable for an application to set a minimum value on its zoom range. When working with extremely large diagrams in EA, I would always recommend having the Pan and Zoom window docked.

Thanks KP, a fair suggestion.

It would be good that have the print option - skip blank pages though.
