Documentation/ Reports feature missing
« on: March 10, 2015, 01:57:40 am »
Hi All,

I'm using EA 11.1.1133 as trial version, Corporate Edition with MDG SysML Technology and MDG DOORS Link.

I've been trying to generare a PDF or html report from my model. Having selected the desired package in the project browser, I tried several options suggested in the Help, which yielded nothing:

a) press F8
b) click the Dokumentation button at the top of the package browser (its drop down menu is empty)
c) find Project > Documentation: menu point non-existant
d) right-click > Documentation: Only menu point opening is about relationship matrix.

What am I doing wrong? Have I managed to inadventently turn off the feature somewhere (which apparently happens quite a bit?).

Cheers,
Lisa

Hello,

Ah yes -- looks like Workspaces and Commands claims another victim. :)

The very first time EA starts up, before it even opens the main window, it asks you to select a command set (can't remember the exact phrasing, you only see this dialog once). If you go "whoa, better just keep it simple" and select anything other than Full, or Complete, or Everything or whatever, you end up with a stunted GUI and no clue as to why.

These preset command sets are a bit, well, let's just say "quaint" and leave it at that. Conspicuously, the sets for Software Engineering, Software Development and Systems Engineering all exclude the Documentation menu commands. 'cos, you know, documentation is completely irrelevant to software engineering.  ;)

The solution is to go into View -- Workspaces and Commands, select the Commands tab and pick "Complete."

HTH,

My theories are always correct, just apply them to the right reality.

Yep, that did the trick, it's all there now. And you might be quite right about my train of thought  when installing EA :)

Thanks for your help!
