Unexpected close of EA
« on: May 19, 2015, 02:52:21 am »
We got massive problem with unexpected closing of EA. Sometimes once a day, but in the same time on particular computer, sometimes twice a day - every time without any logs about error.

I found that McAfee antivirus software triggers that issue: I've created own Job in McAfee Scheduler with only one task - "Scan running processes" and after running it by hand EA has closed.

I'll place a service call in my internal IT Support - probably they can get McAfee support, but also I'm letting you know about the issue.

Just curious - which version of EA are you currently running?  EA 12?  Or an earlier version?

No, I will not uprade EA on 200 workstations in 6 companies working together on project for 4 years which will finish this year.
If you know what I mean.

The only thing I can say is that EA is the only process killed by McAfee.

Aaron was trying to help, knowing which version of EA you are using would be a first step towards that. No one is going to try to pressure you to upgrade, but unfortunately we may not be able to solve your problem with an old version.

However, based on what you've said I'm going to guess that you're using something around version 9 (maybe even 8 since 4 years ago v9 was just leaving beta.) Around that time, EA included some code protection. Unfortunately, we discovered that some malware used the same protection to protect their code from analysis. As a result, it seems that some virus scanners regard anything that uses it as suspicious. As far as I know, it's not a problem with the current version, but you should be able to set McAfee to exclude EA from the scan.
