v12 stereotype selection
« on: July 22, 2015, 02:28:49 pm »
In previous versions, I was able to select a stereotype in the appropriate dialogue by typing the first few characters and hitting [Down Arrow].  This would cause EA to select the first stereotype with those characters (or something nearby).  I could then quickly get to the one I wanted by moving up and down the drop down list.

This is no longer possible in the new element dialog (which otherwise has lots to commend it).

The Tagged Values dialog still operates in that way.  Have I missed something or should I report a bug/issue?

The difference is that the tagged values dialog is still allowing undefined tagged values to be added. The class properties isn't allowing the same for stereotypes. (Which is a good thing for model integrity despite some disadvantages)

Agreed that you should select only from the list of available items.
But User Experience-wise you should be able to refine the section more easily than at present.
Does the control provide such options?

Only by opening the dialog associated with it.

Oh, I see now, it's not a drop-down list.

If it were still a drop-down list, could that have better filtering?  Not talking about a combo box (as it was before), just a tethered drop-down.
