Sparx EA and Windows 10
« on: August 17, 2015, 11:00:30 am »
Just been trying out Sparx EA(Buid 1215) on Windows 10 Home Edition.  In a particular model (.eap file) I've found I can reliably crash Sparx EA when clicking on certain packages (yet not all packages). Tried doing the same thing with the same model on Win 7 Pro without any crashes.
Anyone else tried Win 10 and had similar problems?

Tried using the compatibility mode built into Win 10 to use Win 7 instead however the problem of crashes still happened.
Found when I transferred the project to another eap file or a feap file the problem goes away in the new copy.
Weird aye?

I asked about Windows 10 here on the forum the other day, and it's not officially supported yet but will be soon.

Simon M said Sparx is not currently aware of any compatibility issues, so I'm sure they'd appreciated a report on this.

My theories are always correct, just apply them to the right reality.

Will log a bug report and supply the model over the weekend.

I've just upgraded to Win 10 (EA 12) and am experiencing some appalling performance issues on a EAP file local to me (no issues under 8.1)

I just submitted a bug, not only do I have "appalling" performance, but EA 12 crashes about once every 2 minutes.  Just adding class elements to a domain diagram - and all of a sudden I get the "EA has stopped working" dialog, followed by the "Close Program" dialog, followed by much wailing and gnashing of teeth...

Running on Windows 10 under VMWare Fusion 8  I've not had performance issues except over time.  These seem to be  resolved by a reboot.

I did have an issue with Database datatypes that 'corrected itself' somehow.  that freaks me out a bit yet I'm going to chalk it up to user error on my part.

The only thing I seem to be consistently running into with 12.1 on Windows 10 is a error with the Zachmann Extension throwing up a dialog saying "Cannot create XML Document"

You should send a bug report for that Zachman issue.

Sunshine, sounds like your eap file was corrupted for some reason. If you still have a copy of the bad version of the file and there's no issues sending it in I'd like to get someone to look at it to determine if EA can handle the problem better.

libertytrooper, sounds like the Zachmann add-in is still dependent on MSXML 4. The easiest solution would be to install it manually. We'll get the add-in updated to load xml the same as EA itself.
