EA Language
« on: September 17, 2015, 07:45:15 pm »
Ok, big problem here guys.

I just make the biggest mistake EVER.
I installed EA12 in FRENCH.

First of ALL, about 90% of menu traduction is WRONG (seriously sparx, if you want a soft in an other language, hire someone wich at least more skill than googletranslate)

The probleme is, however how much time I uninstall EA, it still stay in french! (I want to shoot myself in the head)

 • HOW to uninstall EA FULLY in order to clean install in ENGLISH?
 • Is there somewhere a loopend in order to change EA language (some parameter hidden in a menu? or in the regedit?) ?

edit : No, i dont reuse the same package to install, I used the _fr ONCE and now I am F*****

Bonjour Monsieur,

I haven't had this same problem, but it's possible EA has stored some settings in the Windows registry which it does not remove when uninstalling.

If you uninstall EA, check the registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sparx Systems. If there's anything there, get rid of everything and then reinstall.

Usually the local translations are done by the Sparx sister companies.
If I'm not mistaken the french translation is managed by Sparx Systems Central Europe.

I'm seeing one of them tomorrow at the EA User Group event in Brussels, so I'll ask him about it.

Speaking to Sparx Central Europe won't help. The translation is done here. I can't (personally) speak to the quality, I only have a couple years of high school French.

In terms of resetting the menus... Deleting HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sparx Systems\EA400\EA\EA[number]Workspace should be sufficient to remove all menu customizations (which is why it gets stored.) You should also be able to Tools | Customize | Menu | Reset. (With translations of course)

It might be an idea to contact one of the VAR's in France to manage the translation. I'm sure they would be happy too if it means a better translation for their customers. Software in (real) French is a BIG issue in France, as opposed to countries such as Belgium or the Netherlands.

You actually lost big time on trust when the first curtomers noticed how bad was the translation (and we had to roll back to english).

Hey, if you need someone french that use Sparx for translation or review, there is some hidding in this forum. I can speak for myself saying that i know at least one  :D ;) :D ;D !
