working with diagrams (improvement request)
« on: March 09, 2002, 03:05:04 am »
another improvement request from my side.

i tend to make some heavy sized diagrams in bigger projects. although i'm running 1600X1200 resolution, i'm more often faced with diagram sheets extending my screen (window) borders. i know that ea has scrollbars to move and a cool working pane at the bottom.

i'd like to quickly move/edit my sheets. it's working with scrollbars (even with wheel mouse).

but how about following alternatives.

when holding down SPACE within a diagram sheet, mouse cursor alters to a hand and you can simply drag the sheet on whatever direction you want.

when holding down CTRL+SPACE in sheet, mouse alters to magnify and you can zoom in by clicking.

when holding down CTRL+ALT+SPACE in sheet, mouse alters to magnify and you can zoom out by clicking.

could be that some of you may have noticed that common graphics design programs (photosh*p, freeh*nd, illustr*tor aso) have the same shortcuts to move in a picture/sheet)

this is just my 0.02$, other ones may don't like to work with diagram sheets like this.

i'd welcome this improvement. comments also welcome.

Hi,

EA has some similar functionality - but not exactly the same as you describe.

If you press and hold the Shift key, you can use the mouse to scroll around a large diagram - similar to the Spacebar suggestion.

The Z,X,C and V keys also provide zooming capability directly.

Ill check out the alternatives you suggest as well -
