Sequence notes are lost
« on: March 28, 2002, 02:30:54 pm »
As I'm creating a sequence diagram, i'll add a message to go from one object to another. In the notes field, I'll enter comments. When I close the dialog box, the sequence notes display on the right side of the diagram. If I open up the message dialog imediately , the notes will correctly display in the notes field of the dialog box.
But if I close the dialog, and select any other object, then go back the the message and open the dialog box, the notes are gone. i.e., they don't display in the dialog and when I close the dialog, the disappear from the diagram.

If I open the message dialog again, enter notes, and close the dialog, the new notes show up. I leave the message selected, press ctrl-s to save the diagram, then open the message back up, the sequence notes are again lost. (even though the message with the notes has never been deselected.)

Finally, I'm not 100% sure about this. But it appears that the problem described above is only true for function calls. If the messages is a "isReturn" message, the notes seem to be preserved ok.

Hi,

I tried all these in the latest version of EA and couldnt duplicate the behaviour.

What build of EA do you have - its in the Help About section?

Hi there. I'm on build 470.

Fortunatley, I'm having trouble duplicating the problem this morning too. So maybe I was just confused. I'm going to be working on lots of sequence diagrams today. So if I start seeing the behavior again, I'll post what I see on this thread. Otherwise, let's just chalk it up to user error. :-)
