Inherited method is doing me in
« on: May 19, 2002, 01:13:30 pm »
Granted that it is feasible, how do I tune EA to show inherited methods in a subclass. I currently re-enter the inherited method in the subclass in order to use it in a sequence diagram. This process is very tedious  and making me  >:(-  and  8). Why do a job twice on a CASE tool;

Hi,

If you create a message from object A to Object B in a sequence diagram, and object B is based on a class which has inherited methods from one or more other classes, then in the Message Properties dialog the drop list of Method names to choose from will include inherited methods - if the 'Include Inherited Methods' check box underneath the drop list is ticked.

Is this not working in your case?

Hello Geoff,

Thanx for the speedy reply. I cannot find  the " Include Inherited Methods check box underneath the drop list" that you refer to. I have given my glasses a good wipe several times to ensure that I am seeing property but to no avail. I am using the most up-to-date download and patch; or am I using something else.

Keep up the good work and give Rational something to think about.

Thanks again.

Hi again,

Just to be certain we are talking about the same things ...

I am referring to the "Message Properties" dialog - that is displayed in Sequence diagrams when you double click on a message. Here is a picture of part of it:

The check box 'Show Inherited Methods' is located directly underneath the Drop List at the top of the dialog

The current build of EA is 489 (although this feature has been around for quite some time)

Does this not match what you see? Am I looking in the wrong spot?
