Question to Sparx Systems: UML 2 plans?
« on: September 12, 2002, 01:41:50 am »
The new UML 2 standard seems to include some things that would be very useful to real-time developers like myself. What are your plans for incorporating UML 2 into Enterprise Architect?

Hello,

We don't have any immediate plans for Version 2, at the moment the plan is to wait until the specification is finalised and released.  We will then need to analyse what is new, work out an order of preference and add the new functionality.  If you would like to suggest what is most important to you and send us the list to [email protected] , we will include your priorities into our plans.

Hi everybody!

For those of you who are interested: you can find  information on UML 2.0 at http://www.u2-partners.org/

U2 Partners is the group that is "collaborating to specify the next major revision of the Unified Modeling Language".

For a quick glance of what is comming, see the "Issues" section. (There is also a FAQ section.)

In the "Artifacts" section you will find the latest (down-loadable) Infrastructure and Superstructure proposals. Of these two, the Superstructure is the one that will be of most interest to us modellers and developers. Don't we all badly envy the Sparx team that will have to cope with the Supertructure, the Meta Object Facility, and all that fun stuff? I will show my sympathy by not posting anything on 2.0 for the time being. (This does not mean that I will abstain from posting some suggestions for EA related to the current UML version!)
