EA and DAO - Just Errors
« on: July 30, 2003, 03:04:40 pm »
Hi,

EA is not working properly at all -
I have got the newest Build-Version (Corporate-Edition) - nevertheless all the time I get DAO-Errors - expecially when importing XMI-Files, which I exported from another project.
One typical error would be:
DAO.Database [3075]:
Syntax Error in date query expression '#30.07.2003 23:56:11#'.

What I tried:
- Work with JET 4.0 on/off
- Latest Service Pack for JET

Even when I try to create a new view, I get this error on selecting the new view.

I do not know, what's the reason, perhaps some wrong JET-Engine (working on XP-german), and even less I do know how to fix this.

Can anyone help?

Javier

What is the version of the JET Engine service pack.  You mention latest, but it changes quickly ;-)  I'm assuming you're using JET 4.0...

I would suggest...

- Uninstall EA
- Remove JET's service pack.  This may remove any problems introduced by the SP or incompatibilities between JET with the service pack and EA
- Reinstall EA.  You should have what EA supports.

I am afraid the errors have already occured before installing the JET-ServicePack.
I have done reinstalling of EA as well - with no other result.
On another installation of EA the problems occured as well. So in my opinion the XMI/EAP-files are corrupt in some way.
Perhaps it is a language issue, I do not know.
But thanks for your reply.

Christian,

If you are still having this problem, I'd suggest that you have a look at, and try changing, your default date formats in Windows to see if you can get around the problem while you are importing.

MDAC is notorious for stuffing up with international date formats - all sql strings from MDAC connections must be in US format and it looks like the error you get indicates that the dates are in euro dd.mm.yyyy format.
