Property Window Slow to Bring up
« on: September 04, 2003, 11:42:02 pm »
Hi,

When I double click on a class in a logical diagram, EA takes 5-6 seconds to bring up the property window.  Is this normal?  I don't have a slow computer, at least I don't think so - WinXP, P4 2.4, 512MB RAM.  Alternatively I am able to edit some properties through the docked property panel, but sometimes I need the full property window.

Regards,
Andy

Hi Andy

It's definitely not that slow on my computer (P3 800MHz, 384MB RAM, Win2000). Generally, EA always responds very quickly for me. My repository is an EAP file on a LAN drive.

I fixed the problem through one of the following actions, not sure which one.  First, I tried to uninstall and re-install EA.  The uninstall process asked me to close a number of programs, which I did.  Afterwards I noticed an IE process is still running (but without a visible window), so I terminated it by using the Task Manager.  Then I re-installed the latest build of EA 3.60.  Now it brings up the property window much faster.

Possible causes to my original problem: (1) EA wasn't installed correctly, (2) new build of EA fixed the problem, or (3) a hidden IE process was interfering with EA.
