EA 3.6 Build 6.44 is crushing

I just downloaded a new version of EA(EA 3.6 Build 6.44 ), and for the first time EA is crashing on me without any warnings, it never happened before,
I use Windows Server 2003, but 3.51 worked fine on that OS before.
When browsing a sample diagram (for example, the very first
use case sample named “Use Case Model: - Displaying actor and use case generalization include and extend relationships”) and right clicking on any of the use cases(for example "Send SMS")the context menu comes up, then
if I try to close that context menu by clicking anywhere on the diagram: EA crash without any warning or error message or any entry in the Application error log, it's just disappears!?
Could please someone try to reproduce this behavior  on different OS?

Unable to replicate this symptom on either of XP Pro, Win2K Server.  From my simplistic viewpoint, it sounds like it could be some kind of anomoly.  Can I assume that you've tried at least one other release of 3.6 successfully before this one?

If so, it may be worthwhile re-installing to ensure a clean install.  Sorry I can't offer more.

No, but the 3.51 works fine on win 2003!
I also tried the 3.6 on 2000 and it works fine also
There is definitely an issue with win. 2003 and EA 3.6
I wonder if anyone from Sparx monitors this forum.
I hope they can clear this one for me, because it's a sure bug
I reinstalled it twice with no luck
By the way did you try with the same diagram that I refer?
Because it seems that it's not happening with all the diagrams.

I upgraded to rel 645 since my last reply, but I just replicated the exact scenario you described, down to the specific use case.  No problem for me.  For grins, I've tried a couple other diagrams also to see what happens and cannot replicate the symptom.

This is on a WinXP Pro workstation.

I tried as the same way as you described on Windows Server 2003(Standard).  But EA doesn't crash.

So, I think there is other reason to crash.

Why don't you uninstall EA and clear all files and registries, and re-install again?

Hi All,

We've tracked this problem down to having the code gen toolbar visible, while right clicking on an element.  It is not directly related to windows 2003 and occurs rarely.

Build 646 will resolve this issue.  Thanks to Armen for some detailed information.

If anyone experiences any trouble after 646 please let us know.

I did not previously have the Code Generation toolbar open when attempting this scenario, which may explain why I didn't see the same symptom.  I just tried it with Code Gen open, and (naturally) still didn't experience any odd behavior.  I am using rel 646, which sounds like it has a code-level fix already.  So I guess consider this only a tenative confirmation of the resolution.

Oops, I lied, I'm using rel 645, which would not already have the fix.  Funny then, that I still haven't figured out how to replicate it.

Anysay, I'm  probably just not pushing all the right buttons to make EA mad.  Sounds like Benc has a handle on it though, and the upcoming release will straighten it out.

Yes it is a Code Generation Bar, I took it out following the advise by Geoffrey, and it's not giving me a problem since then.
Also I think that the problem only comes up on XP or 2003
(new GDI lib), because I have tried on 2000 before and it was ok.
Any way it's not a big problem to have that bar closed until the fix is available (probably Monday?)
One think I want to point out, the speed and the quality of service I’ve got after I submit this bug to Sparks was just perfect, better that perfect
