UML, EA and quick delivery of product
« on: November 25, 2003, 01:54:24 pm »
This is the often asked question, re-stated:

Is there a non-trivial example how of using UML and the EA process gets to code quickly and delivers a product on time and well documented?

I now have an important C/S project for delivery in March 2004 (about 17 work - weeks) using a couple of developers that involves adding tables to an established database, to persist new settings for reports, a lot of reporting and some forecasting of trends.  Really, a new product but using the database of an existing product.

Thanks!

Hi Eduardo,

It is important to note that EA is not a process! You can choose the well-known RUP process, but there are others.

I think it is also important to note that a process does not automatically mean that your product is on time and well documented. A choosen process does of coarse helps you structuring your project, but you will need (among others) commitment and good knowledge of such a process to increase the changes of successfull software development.

So to answer your question: no I believe you will not find a non-trivial example that fits your needs. However, in the UML Process forum on this site you will find more information on your questions, including some literature tips.

Greetings,

Thanks for your answer.

I am using a modified RUP with iterations and some aspects of XP.  So, the project does not look unmanageable, specially using EA and Delphi.

I guess what I am looking for is a more complete White Paper or Case study of how a project has been brought in.
