Scripting Import of Package

Hi All,
 Would like to know if there is an automated way of importing package file into main respository.

We have several people working on project and they are updating there own packages and exporting them.  At the end of the night I would like to automate a process where all these XML files get merged back into main repository.

 :) it would be useful also  for controlled packages
