How is Support?
« on: January 25, 2004, 02:00:28 am »
Hi all,

I'm currently evaluating EA and a number of other tools for myself. Tech-wise, I found EA to be superior in its class to all the competitors - slim and fast (no JAVA GUI :-), nice look&feel, good C++ code generation and so on. At work we use Together and RR, both which I find overpriced and terrible resource hogs.

Now, though EA meets a lot of my needs, I still find corners I don't like or I don't understand or I think are buggy.

So my question is to the registered users: How do you find EA support? Is it responsive? Is it helpful? From what I see in the forums, there linger sometimes threads around for weeks or months w/o anyone answering, but maybe the situation is different for registered users?

Thanks for answering,

...thomas

EA is blessed with both an excellent Development team who try to roll out modifications and patches on a 2 weekly cycle (or there abouts) and they also help answer the questions as and where appropriate.

In addition, EA has an amazing community of users - it is very likely that someone here will have an answer to your questions/problems if needed.

Yes, EA has some faults but if your fear is that there is no support and that issues are not resolved then fear not.  I believe (completely personal opinion coming up) that the support has lessened slightly recently due to the fact that EA 4.0 is around the corner - this is a major release and apparently should solve many of the outstanding issues.

Use EA demo, use EA forum and join the 'club' -  you won't regret it - it really doesn't get any better than this at the price (or even for a lot, lot more!)

I certainly second what Matt says.  We have been using EA for about 8 months and the support we have received has been totally first class throughout.
