Guideline for RTF Documentation
« on: March 23, 2004, 12:41:56 am »
I am trying to generate RTF documention for my model and am running into some issues.
1. I have tried to add formatted' content to elements (for example bullets) by copying thje content from word and pasting it into the notes field for the element. When I try to generate the RTF document from the model I lose any of this type of formatting. Basically all the content gets generated as 'Normal' style except the header.  Basically I dont feel like I have enough control of the output...

2. How can I suppress the Figure numbers at the bottom of images as well as the Header that appears in the RTF output? Basically it would be okay for me if I document the model in word as long as the images (only) are linked... At least then my document can remain up to date if the model or elements change (but use word for Headers and Figures).

3. Does anyone actually use EA's documentation features to generate final/finished documentation? How do others generate their documents suitable for submission to a client??? I'm looking for suggestions because I feel I must be missing something on generating decent output with the tools at hand.

Thanks,

David

Hi David

Not really an answer to your specific questions, but don't forget that if the documentation output is not to your requirements, you can always interrogate the model through the automation interface and generate what you want that way.

Just a thought!

Thanks for the suggestion.

That approach sounds feasible but obviously requires a certain amount of free development time that I simply dont have available.

Ideally if I could extract the RTF image without the Headers and Figures info, that would go a long way to a decent compromise. As it stands right now I will need to
generate each diagram individually as an image and link to it that way. Not a big problem I suppose.
