Child diagrams
« on: May 13, 2004, 04:11:26 am »
Hi all,

This is probably a question that has been asked before, so apologies.

I have a Use Case diagram that has several child diagrams below some (not all) of the use cases.  Is there any way to show that a child diagram exists on the main use case diagram?  I know that I can add hyperlinks to the children, but I really want something that is attached to the use case and moves with it if the diagram layout is changed.

Can anybody help?  This isn't a major issue, but it would be very nice to be able to do it.

cheers

G'day,

Not sure if I understand exactly what you're looking for or if this is the best way to go ...

How about using a boundary element?

Put the use case element and any other "related" elements within the boundary element.  Whenever you want to change the layout of your diagram, drag the boundary element (which will bring with it all elements inside the boundary) instead of the use case element.
Cheers and best regards.

Hi,

right click on a Use Case and check "Composite Element". This works not only for Use Cases but for any element.
This will not only graphically distinguish the element, now by double-clicking on the Use Case, the child diagram will be opened automatically.
