EA, Rose and Controlled Units
« on: May 12, 2004, 03:25:29 pm »
All:

We have 1 rose model composed of several hundred controlled units.

I want to be able to export a controlled unit from Rose via XMI.  Then I want to import the unit into EA.

I also need to be able to do the reverse - export XMI from EA and import into Rose - for a single package.

Is this possible?  I would really appreciate any info.  TIA.

The answer to that question is "It depends".  GUIDs are not preserved between rose and EA.  So if items in the model outside the package you are working on, then you can't.

If your package is totally self contained, then you can import your EA model into an empty rose model, export it as a cat file, and re-import that cat file into your big model.

I'm hoping they are going to work in this issue, round trip usage between rose and EA would be excellent for us poor shmoes in the corporate world who are mandated to use rose.
