Database Corruption
« on: October 06, 2004, 08:59:42 am »
I have user utilizing EA 3.60 Build 653 and 658. Does this cause any inconsistencies?

I have several users accessing one database. Occassionally this database becomes corrupt. In order to repair it we have to open the database in Access and choose a repair option.

I do have users that are using Access 2000 and others that use Access 2002. Is this a problem?

My users suspect that this condition occurs when a user's particular instance of EA crashes.

I am trying to diagnose what could be causing the problem. I do not see anything reported on the server logs. The lock file is not too helpful in indicating what is happening. What are some troubhleshooting steps that I can process through?

(Just a preliminary sentence: start thinking about upgrading!)
Okay, there should not be an issue with accessing the same DB with these builds (AFAIK!). A problem could be that some of your "native" Access users are working with the wrong Jet machine. To repair the database I would recommend to use EAs buildt-in repair function (which is obviously the same as Access') so you're on the save side. Additionally you should use the data integrity check offered by EA!
