Impact of Deleting Default System Views
« on: August 05, 2004, 04:05:54 am »
Are their any 'down the road' impacts of deleting the default system views in terms of lost EA functionality i.e. will this prevent me from doing something in EA?

Apologies if the definitive answer is out there on the message board, but the problem is that I have seen messages stating no impact, but also a comment that there are implications with changing the structure but without saying what.

Simple: no impact. You can invent your own structure without losing any functionality.

Actually, I find a strange behaviour in EA when deleting / creating 'top-level' packages (that is, packages placed directly under the "Views" root node): when first creating one, it is a normal package; after closing EA and reopening the project, the new package has been gifted the "View" status, which means it now can have an icon and cannot be moved in a deeper level.

EA demo 4.10.738, running in "Corporate" mode.

Usually I start with a template project where I have a few top level views and there is no need to add/delete views.
