Large diagram problem.
« on: May 02, 2005, 01:06:39 pm »
Hi
I have a large class diagram and i am wondering what is the best way to print it.
When i try Documentation -> Rich Text Documentation
the picture is appearing in a very very small size and we cannot really make sense of it.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions.
Thanks.

I suggest creating smaller diagrams.  I had a similar problem.  But then, I simply did the following:

1) Select diagram properties and select "Exclude image from RTF documents" on my main large diagram.

2) Create seperate diagrams which break things out logically.  In my case, I created 4 diagrams.  When I drag the elements from the Project Browser (Alt-0) the relationships automatically show up.  You can use the Auto Layout to get yourself started with the layout.  Even with a few hundred objects it didn't more than about an hour to create seperate views.

Remember -- Each diagram is really just a seperate view of the same model.  Relationship and class information will be consistent on your diagrams.

pathurun,
you can create the diagrams just beside the big one: select the package where it's located and press the "Create Diagram" icon (the one with the tree-like image). Once you have it created and open, go to the big diagram and select the part you need (or select everything), copy it via CTRL-C and go to the tab with the new diagram. Now you can paste (via CTRL-V or the menu: Paste as link) all elements. Delete those you don't need in the small one via DEL. Now you have a part image of your big picture. Optionally rearrange elements as needed. Repeat this with as many views as you need.
