EA versus Windows XP with SQL Server
« on: May 13, 2005, 07:11:16 am »
 :'( We have been using EA in machines with Windows 2000 connecting SQL Server 7.0 with no problems, although, we started to change windows 2000 version to XP and our problems also started.
When trying to connect to SQL Server a Run-Time error occurs in EA.exe.
We have already tried the SPARX helping but unfortunately nothing changed.
Please help us !!!!

Hi Adriano,

just to clarify this: you are using Win XP on the client machines, the SQL Server is sitting somewhere on a server, is that correct?
I see EA running on both Win2K and Win XP all the time, and never saw any problems.

Hi Bruno,

We found out that another company use EA with windows XP and Oracle successfully, we've never saw both windows XP and SQL Server together. Do you think our problem could be the missing of any windows library ? Some DLL for example.

Thanks

Adriano

Hi Adriano,

I suppose it is possible. I am using EA on Windows XP connecting to a SQL Server that is running on XP as well, right now as we speak.
Did you try the following:
- Use EA with an .EAP file
- Try to connect to a repository on a different server
- Try to connect to the SQL Server from Enterprise Manager on the same machine that contains the EA

Let me know if all this worked!
Bruno

Hi Bruno,

we have already tried the three possibilities:

-.EAP file: we tried succesfully;

- Connect to a repository on a different server: the error persisted;

- Connect to the SQL Server from Enterprise Manager on the same machine that contains the EA: we are able to connect to SQL Server.

Thanks for helping

Adriano.

I also moved from W2K with SQL to WXP with SQL and it worked just fine. Not really sure what could be the problem...

Can you still work from W2K on your SQL 7.0 . I mean did you only change the OS from 2K to XP or is also the SQL Server upgraded?

Hi thomaskilian,

In fact we have just changed the OS version, we haven't upgraded the SQL Server, so, we used 2k and SQL 7 and nowadays we use XP and SQL 7.

thanks.

Adriano.

Have you searched for problems related to SQL 7 in conjunction with XP? I could imagine a driver problem.
