MySQL
« on: May 12, 2005, 01:03:49 pm »
I have recently become the proud owner of the EA Professional edition and love it.

However, is it possible to extend my edition only to include MySQL repository support without having to upgrade in one go to the pricey Corporate edition?

Thanks alot in advance.

No.  MySQL support is only included in the corporate edition.

That's the first time I hear anyone calling EA "pricey" :-)

Well it is - in comparison with MySQL.
But so's a copy of Windows.

Free beer, anyone :-)

PS. just looked at the MySQL website - commercial licence with a year's support [MySQL Network Basic] - 495 Euros.

Now what were you saying about EA ...?

Don't forget, you can still put the project packages each into version control (supported by all versions), which could be a good halfway house to a DB repository - but does need a little coordination (see other forum posts).

The DB repository does not (yet?) support rollback, so you do have some advantages if you use version control.

You're right, the corporate version may 'sound' alot more expensive but it's only a mere $40 more.

So I just upgraded.
